Real Life Superhero Mariska Hargitay Slayed As Fictional Superhero Black Widow

By reading that headline you probably think I’m referring to Mariska Hargitay as a real life superhero because she’s portrayed feminist icon Lieutenant Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for 20 years. You’re wrong. Well, you’re right, but you’re also wrong.

While the fictional character does a lot for victims of sexual abuse, the woman behind the character is also a powerful force in real life who campaigns and uses her influence to fight for women’s rights and spread awareness on issues like the thousands of rape kits that have gone untested.

She most recently produced and starred in a documentary about untested rape kits called I Am Evidence which has been nominated for Outstanding nonfiction film for Broadcast Directors.

For this reason, Hargitay is a real life superhero and her decision to dress as a fictional superhero for Halloween seems extremely appropriate.

The actress took to social media to share snaps of her rendition of Scarlett Johansson‘s Marvel character Black Widow.

Hargitay’s husband and co-star Peter Hermann matched with his partner and went as Chris Evans’ Captain America.

Behold, your king and queen:

Mariska also shared a pic alongside her bestie and Will & Grace goddess Debra Messing who went as fashion icon Iris.

Keep slaying, my liege, on and off screen.
