Marion Cotillard Joins Michael Fassbender In ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Movie

Marion Cotillard is the kind of actress who can leap pretty effortlessly from action to artier fare – witness her understated performance in Two Days, One Night versus her crazy eyes in the very loud thriller-within-a-thriller Inception.
Her next project is more on the action side of the ledger, as Complex report that she has signed on to join Michael Fassbender in a movie adaptation of the Assassin’s Creed games.
Of all the video games you could possibly adapt, Assassin’s Creed makes the most sense – the series has a pretty clear-cut concept and story, and lends itself to elegantly-shot mayhem.
Per the games, Fassbender will play a man sent back into the memories of his building-leaping, silent-killing ancestor during the crusades; it’s not clear whether Cotillard will also play an assassin, or be relegated to some kind of love interest / eye candy role.
Who wants to take bets on how that will go?
Cotillard and Fassbender are signed on for multiple Assassin’s Creed films, so clearly there are high hopes for the series. The first, to be directed by Australia’s Justin Kurzel, will arrive in cinemas December 2016.
