Mardi Gras Drug Bust In Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs

Sydney’s Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras starts in a few hours, but someone always tries to get in early.

Police have arrested a man in the beach suburb of Coogee after a raid on his apartment allegedly uncovered some three litres of GHB, or ‘liquid ecstasy’, which has a street value of around $16,000. The stash was discovered after cops followed the man into a taxi and intercepted him in Randwick, during which they allegedly located a glass bottle containing the liquid drug as well as a number of ecstasy tablets, a large amount of cash and other paraphernalia.

Officers believe that the GHB, (also known as Fantasy) and is popular in the gay community, was intended to be sold at tonight’s Mardi Gras parade.
