‘MKR’ Boss Manu Feildel Takes Unprecedented Step Of Booting Team From Dinner

Alrighty mates, are you prepared to read an article about My Kitchen Rules from someone who has never seen even 30 seconds of this high budget Come Dine With Me / MasterChef spin-off? Are you? Because by continuing to read this you’ve actually now signed a contract where you cannot complain about it to me afterwards.

Last night, it appears that celebrity chef-turned-highly-paid-TV-bobblehead Manu Fieldel took the unprecedented step of booting two contestants out of the MKR dinner table or whatever and folks were shooketh.

*Sorry, I lie. Just caught up with the drama and they were BOOTED FROM THE WHOLE DAMN COMPETITION?

It turns out that team Sonya and Hadil were hurling insults and threats at fellow contestants Jess and Emma, which hurt Manu’s very sensibilities.

“It’s not only that they were having a fight and going at each other, they were at someone’s house,” he told Fairfax. “That’s just rude.”

They were hurling insults like “blowfish” and threats like “I’m going to come for you and I’m going to come for you”, which I suppose is the inevitable conclusion of taking a nice show about people doing home cooking for other people and turning every episode into DRAMA with a heroes / villains storyline.

“I’ve got a really good doctor you can go to to fix your ugly face,” Hadil said at one point. Jess left the table, upset, but was convinced by producers to come back – at which point, the whole fight turned even uglier.

Within minutes of shouting, yelling about being “respectful of Kim and Suong‘s home” [dinner was at their house] and telling everyone to shut up, Sonya snapped.

“I’ll come for you and I’ll come for you and I’ll come for you, because you’re all disrespectful assholes,” she yelled.

Wow, pot? There’s a kettle calling you black, and saying to please learn some cooking.

The explosion was apparently teased for some time, with views unsure if they’d even get to witness the drama, given MKR’s family-friendly 7:30pm timeslot. But low and behold, it was screened last night for all our entertainment.

And apparently, it was somewhere around the rude words and lowkey threats that Manu decided, in the manner of a furiously angry but outwardly collected school principal, that they had gone too far.

“Enough! Things have got too out of hand,” he told them, channeling serious Daddy vibes (I watched the clip and wow, Manu, have I been sleeping on you). “This is a cooking competition and this behaviour is unacceptable. Sonya and Hadil, you are excused from the table!”

Sashay the fuck away.

Here’s footage of the end of that meltdown, if you want to witness the most CONTROVERSIAL moment in MKR history.

“It’s a cooking show for goodness sake,” Feildel continued to Fairfax. “Having an opinion about someone’s food, fair enough. But going at someone personally and just threatening people – ‘I’m going to come for you and I’m going to come for you’ – hang on, what’s going on? You just need to stop?”

So are Sonya and Hadil a bit mortified, now that their behaviour has been exposed to the world Australia Channel 7 fans?

Not even a little bit. They’ve got their game faces on, and are prepared to parlay this time in the spotlight into at least ONE discounted cosmetic procedure before the fame juice runs out.

On their team Instagram account, Sonya and Hadil blamed last night’s episode on… editing? Maybe? I’m honestly not sure.  “Only a complete fool makes accusations based on what another person has told them.” (Wow, stop seeing me guys.) “Don’t assume everything you hear to be true, and never accuse without knowing all the facts or both sides of a story.”

And that concludes that drama! Maybe. Probably not. Expect to be hearing about this for the next three days at least.
