A man is injured after setting himself alight outside Central Station earlier today.

The Guardian reports that the man, aged in his 30s, was outside the Department of Immigration on Lee Street when he doused himself in petrol and set himself alight.

Police were attempting to negotiate with the man before the incident occurred, around 1:30pm this afternoon.

The Huffington Post reports that it is being treated as a “self-harm incident”, while NSW Police confirmed that it is not terror related.

The man was doused with a fire extinguisher by Fire & Rescue NSW and was treated for superficial burns at the scene.

Footage from 2GB shows the man being taken away via an ambulance.
