MAFS’s Cheryl Maitland Sprung Trying To Arrange A ‘Candid’ Paparazzi Pic

We get it.

We get that by writing this article, we’re giving Cheryl Maitland of Married At First Sight fame exactly what she wants: publicity.
But this is a yarn too perfectly petty to ignore.
Slightly embarrassing screenshots of Instagram DMs between Cheryl and a Sydney-based photographer have emerged that show the 25-year-old trying to coordinate a “candid” photoshoot of her arriving at Melbourne airport:
The paparazzi, Jayden Seyfarth, took no prisoners as he screenshotted the pair’s private conversation and uploaded it to his Instastory with the salty caption, “When they need to stay relevant”.
It ain’t the first time a MAFS star has been embroiled in an awkward “staged” publicity stunt. Lest we forget that time bride Nadia was “caught” buying a pregnancy test at the local chemist:
bahahahaha it never gets old
As desperate as it looks, this sort of behaviour isn’t anything new. Cheryl alerting the paparazzi to her whereabouts isn’t totally self-centred – if the photographer gets a juicy snap of her, they can sell this on and make a living. And we consumers get some goss. Everyone sort of wins.
This shit is the very lifeblood of the modern celebrity. Lara Bingle was famous for this sort of stuff. She went from a random girl in bikini asking us “where the bloody hell are ya?” to multi-million dollar business owner and A-List celeb; a transformation that was most certainly aided by the paps.
We digress. The real reason for us writing this little tidbit? We just really wanted to use this as an opportunity to again share this iconic moment in Australian reality television history:
Shoulda played Wonderwall, Jonesy.
