Married At First Sight groom Liam Cooper has accused the show of editing out a confrontation between himself and flog Jason Engler during last night’s reunion dinner party.
Jason, in case you missed it, is the bloke who filmed himself going on a homophobic and body-shaming rant about Liam in a video leaked to the So Dramatic! podcast.
In the viral video, Jason called Liam a “110% wanker” and described him as “ugly, fat, chubby.”
He also called Liam, who is bisexual, “a full blown homosexual” while Liam’s ‘wife’ Georgia Fairweather and MAFS groom Johnny Balbuziente laughed in the background.
In a Snapchat video obtained by So Dramatic! (because Liam currently doesn’t have access to his Instagram), Liam absolutely tore into Jason’s video and last night’s episode of MAFS.
“That video was fucking disgusting,” Liam said.
“And tonight, at the very start of the dinner party, we all went to town.
“I questioned Jason about the video, I pulled Georgia up on the video. Jason just sat there with the fucking smug look on his face and didn’t even want to talk about it.
“Georgia sat there and said she was sorry and I said to her, ‘No, you’re only sorry because you’ve been called out.’ And then everybody else jumped in and we talked about it.”
Liam said that it was “disgusting” that the editing made it seem like he just ignored Jason and Georgia.
According to So Dramatic!, Jason’s rant was originally posted to the close friends group on Georgia’s Instagram Story. Another MAFS contestant, who remains anonymous, was in that group and recorded it. You know the rest.
Another mystery contestant has since dished even more gross details about the video to podcast host Megan Pustetto, claiming Jason said racial slurs about his MAFS ‘wife’ Alana Lister, but it was cut from the video.
“He was mocking her ethnicity,” the unnamed contestant claimed.
While Jason has apologised for his homophobic words, he hasn’t publicly responded to the claims of racism.
AND THEN [inhales], So Dramatic! shared another Snapchat video from Liam on Thursday morning, where he continued to destroy the editing of the reunion episode.
“The fact that me and Alana sat there and we went rogue because of this video, because not only did this video affect me, it affected Alana’s relationship with Jason, ‘cos Jason wouldn’t even apologise for what he said to me. And the racist slurs he said to Alana,” Liam claimed.
“Like mate, this video affected so many people and it’s just been brushed under the rug like it’s nothing. And I’ve [been] made out to be the dick.
“Yes, I did go to the dinner party, yes I was harsh and I was brutal with my words, but all I said was my family and friends wouldn’t like her, I didn’t say I wouldn’t accept her.”
Liam claimed that even that conversation was highly edited and “mashed together” to make it look like he was being a “right, brutal dick” to Georgia.
“There’s more to the edit you’re not seeing and it just blows my mind.”
At the end of his video, Liam concluded that he just wasn’t going to sit around while people dissed the LGBTQIA+ community.
“I am proud, bisexual man and I’m not going to sit here and let people who are uneducated slag me off and slag off the LGBTQI+ community because you guys are uneducated,” he said.
And that’s that.
MAFS continues Sunday, 7pm on Channel 9.
