‘MAFS’ Flog Dean Wells Got Sprung Asking A Melbourne Restaurant For A Free Meal

It’s the rite of passage for reality TV contestants, innit?

They’re under the country’s microscope when they’re on their respective reality shows (whether it be Bachelor, MAFS, The Voice, you name it), then when the show ends and they’re regurgitated back into society, they cling to their 15 seconds of “fame” like grim death in order to score invites to events and nab free shit.

Much to the enjoyment of the rest of us, sometimes these flogs get called out on their scabby behaviour, the latest being Married At First Sight‘s Dean Wells.

A Melbourne based restaurant (presumably Meat Maiden) recently shared an email that had seemingly been penned by Wells’ PR with restaurant food critic John Lethlean who proceeded to name and shame by posting the email on Instagram.

In the email, the writer asks for a free meal for two in exchange for social media “posts and mentions”.

“I just wanted to touch base regarding our client, Married At First Sight star, Dean Wells who is looking to wine and dine in the city of Melbourne on the 18th of August,” the email reads.

“I thought this could be a good opportunity for them to attend your restaurant, as Dean has over 80K followers across his Instagram. In return for looking after the two on this special occasion, we can offer Social Media posts and mentions.”

Leatham sarcastically captioned the post: “Grasping At First Sight, a new reality series. Please consider #couscousforcomment

If you don’t find the sheer hubris of Wells’ request hilarious, you’ll at least get one helluva kick out of the greatest hashtag ever coined.
