‘MAFS’ Angels Simon & Alene Have Called It Quits Bc Love Is Fake Apparently

What a surprise,” I hear you say sarcastically to your phone, weirding out everyone else on the bus. “I am completely astonished that a reality TV show romance didn’t last forever.” And look, I get it, I do. Love is transient enough at the best of times, it seems ridiculous to believe that people who met on a show about strangers getting married would stand the test of time. But Simon and Alene are different.
If, like me, you were forced to (or chose to) sit through the last season of ‘Married At First Sight‘, you will be fully aware that nearly every couple on the show was a trainwreck. It seemed like each couple was constantly beset by disagreements, subterfuge and antagonism. But not Simon and Alene.
Despite their huge differences in lifestyle, the two seemed to quickly fall for each other (hastening especially after Simon cut off his absolutely ridiculous hair). As recently as last month, Alene had discussed plans to move to Ipswich to end their frustrations with the long-distance relationship. But, no, love is not real. There is no such thing as romance. There is no hope for any of us.
In a joint statement made to The Fix, the couple said they’ll still be mates:
“It was a difficult decision but we have decided to part ways. We remain the greatest of friends and we will continue to be part of each others’ lives. We thank you for your privacy at this time.”
That just leaves us with Nick and Sharon. Good luck to ’em.
