The next season of Married At First Sight (MAFS) is on its way… or is it?
Despite filming the show late last year, the series has yet to shoot its reunion ep and apparently they’ve hit a snag as the cast are refusing to quarantine.
Daily Mail Australia reports that while cast members are able to travel into NSW, contestants based in Victoria, Queensland, Brisbane and Perth are required to go through the mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine before returning home.
“Eight brides and grooms have already had to quarantine for two weeks and they don’t want to have to do it again for just two days of filming,” an insider told the publication.
The sneaky source divulged that producers have been left scrambling and are considering a Zoom reunion, which is no fun, really.
“They need drama and the only way for it to be a climactic ending is for them to be there in person,” the source added.
“The reunion doesn’t air until end of March, but nobody knows what is going to happen with the virus and travel, so they want it done soon rather than later.”
The insider claimed that although most of the brides and grooms jumped at the chance to return for the reunion, others wanted to abandon the show entirely to return to their jobs and families, which is fair, I guess.
This is all particularly unfortunate ‘cos the new season is set to air v. soon. The trailer’s already out and everything:

Meanwhile, the MAFS all-star spesh is also on its way, featuring a bunch of returning cast members from previous seasons.
The reunion, which will air over two nights on January 31 and February 7, will include Dean Wells, Tracey Jewel, Cyrell Paule, Ines Basic, Jessika Power, Martha Kalifatidis, Michael Brunelli, Sarah Roza, Nasser Sultan, Troy Delmege, Ashley Irvin, Mike Gunner, Charlene Perera, Jo McPharlin, Ryan Gallagher, Lizzie Sobinoff and Sebastian Guilhaus.
The latter bride and groom, Lizzie and Seb, called it quits shortly after the reunion, so watching that unfold will be a touch awks, won’t it?
