Luipta Nyong’o Went Undercover To Comic-Con As The Pink Power Ranger

The ridiculously huge, nerdy uber-event San Diego Comic-Con is interesting, to say the least. It’s equally revered for its ability to draw in the A-List stars from all over, and notorious for the sheer atomic mass of over 120,000 sweaty nerds all crowded together so tightly that Rexona could probably drop a warehouse of deodorant on the place and it wouldn’t improve the situation.
Which is why celebrities have taken to disguising themselves in masks and costumes. That way, they can hang about in peace, without having to deal with the eventual crushing pain of thousands of selfie requests. Andrew Garfield did it when he was announced as Spider-Man. Bryan Cranston did it wearing a rubber Heisenberg mask. ‘Mythbuster’s’ Adam Savage does it so often, finding him in the crowd has become a game.
The films may have sucked, but this is iconic.
But none of them had anywhere near as much fun as Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. Hanging around SDCC last weekend for her work on both ‘Marvel’s Black Panther’ and ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’, she dressed as only the best ‘Power Ranger’ of any series, ever, the Pink Ranger
And what she lack in accurate headgear (where’s the Ranger helmet, Lupita?), she makes up sick dance moves.

The sheer elation and joy in Lupita’s body, as she dances among the crowd and gets some happy snaps with models of her ‘Star Wars’ character Maz Kanada, is beautiful. As is the bewildered look on every bystander’s face, probably assuming this is just another idiot blogger making some #content.
She may not have been the first to do the celebrity-in-disguise gimmick. But Lupita may well be the best.
