Bella Hadid has given her first interview about her extremely public break up with The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) to Teen Vogue.
The model and the musician broke up in November last year, and shortly after had to share the Victoria’s Secret stage, which created a helluva lot of ‘tfw you walk past your ex looking fly‘ memes:
In the interview, Bella speaks about the difficulty with having her first breakup (YEP, HER FIRST EVER BREAKUP) feature so prominently in the public eye:
“It was my first breakup…and so public.As an outsider, you might think I handled it so well, but it’s always in your heart, and you always feel it very heavily.”
She also opens up about how it has been, and still continues to be, difficult to get over:
“It’ll be hard for a while.Love hurts, but you have to pull through.”
Although reports stated that Bella was angry and upset about Abel moving on quickly and dating pop star Selena Gomez (who she has many mutual friends with), Bella told the mag that she still has a great deal of respect and love for him:
“I’ll always respect him, and I’ll always love him.Sometimes you want to be sad about it or handle it differently, but at the end of the day, you never want to burn a bridge that you’ve fought so hard to build.”
