Beloved man Louis Theroux has shared the first trailer to his highly anticipated doco Altered States, his first in two years since My Scientology Movie.

Altered States has Theroux return to the United States to explore some of “humanity’s oldest dilemmas”. In particular, we’ll be looking at adoption, polyamory, and voluntary euthanasia.
“I have always been interested in how people conduct the most intimate aspects of their lives.
“For this series we looked at the new ways Americans are approaching some of humanity’s oldest dilemmas: pregnant mums who feel unequipped to keep their babies and so pick new parents for them; the world of polyamory aka ‘ethical non-monogamy’; and people with debilitating conditions who opt to hasten their own deaths.”
Theroux shared the trailer to his Twitter with the caption: “They let me voice the trailer for my new BBC2 Series! First time that’s ever happened! No extra fee though.”

Altered States will land on BBC Two in the UK, November 4.
In Australia, you can catch the series on BBC Knowledge (available on Foxtel and Fetch TV) which will premiere the series on Thursday 6 December, 8:30pm.
Speaking about the interviewees who have allowed him into their lives, Theroux said:
“I have been given extraordinary levels of access to courageous people and families across the United States, many of them enduring unbelievable levels of stress and anguish, and it was a privilege to be allowed into their lives in this most personal way.”

Meanwhile, a separate documentary just concentrating on polyamorous relationships will premiere across Australian cinemas in November. The doco, titled Love Without Limits, will open in select cinemas across the country on November 30, including Hoyts, Village, Palace cinemas, and a bunch of independent theatres.
