Lorde Has Delayed Her Next Album After The Death Of Her Beloved Pet Dog

Lorde

In a heartfelt message to fans, Lorde has opened up about the death of her beloved pet dog Pearl, saying that she has decided to delay her next album in order to rethink some things.

A copy of the email was published by the Lorde Daily twitter account. In it, the singer said she wants to be “transparent” with fans about what’s happening in her life. She said:

“I’ve been working away on the new songs for most of the year in New Zealand. It’s been going pretty well, but something happened last month that I need to tell you about.”

She went on to say that she adopted her dog Pearl in 2018, and that her life grew “exponentially” as he brought “an immeasurable amount of joy and purpose” into her world.

“We spent almost all our time alone together, him asleep under the piano as I played, or on the porch together, or in the park, where he became a blurry speck of gold in the green, far away.”

Lorde explained that Pearl had been sick continuously throughout his life, and that a specialist recently found the cause of the problem, getting his health back on track.

“But one day we woke up and I knew, in that way mothers do, that he was sicker than we realised, and that he was nearing a point where his body wasn’t going to be able to cope,” she wrote.

She rushed him to the vet that day, but sadly, he passed away.

The singer wrote that Pearl still visits her in her dreams, and that now he is gone, she is going to take some time for “recalibration” to see what direction her music takes her in.

“I have lost my boy and I need some time to see the good again,” she wrote. “Thank you for your kindness, today and every day. I feel it.”
