A Comprehensive List Of All The Movies & TV Shows Catherine O’Hara Was In Without You Noticing

Most of us, including myself, have fallen in love with Catherine O’Hara in her stunning portrayal of Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek, but what else has she been in that we just haven’t realised?

A few weeks ago, the internet absolutely lost its minds when it discovered that the mother from Home Alone is, in fact, the legendary Catherine O’Hara. I mean, it’s been like 30 years since then, but she still looks pretty much the same minus the hair colour switch.

I did the research (thanks IMDB) to discover what other movies and television shows she’s been in, and my God, I was positively shaken at the sheer amount of childhood classics that she has appeared in.

Here’s a summary of the most iconic films that feature an appearance from O’Hara herself.

Beetlejuice, 1988

Delia Deetz, one of the brief antagonists in the film. An amazing role that O’Hara absolutely masters. It’s fun to go back in time and see her and her eccentricities in roles other than Moira Rose.

Home Alone, 1990

Catherine O’Hara in a role where she actually cares for her kids’ whereabouts? You love to see the acting diversity.

The Nightmare Before Christmas, 1993

Once you hear it you won’t be able to unhear it. Yes, Catherine O’Hara is Sally in Nightmare Before Christmas, but she’s also Shock, the little witch that causes mischief with her friends Lock and Barrel. Double trouble!

A Series Of Unfortunate Events (Movie and TV Show), 2004/2017

Justice Strauss in the film classic and Dr. Orwell in the Netflix series, Catherine O’Hara made an appearance in both renditions of A Series of Unfortunate Events, in relatively minor roles. Not surprising given how star-studded the original 2004 film was.

Chicken Little, 2005

Remember those alien parents at the end of Chicken Little? Well, Tina, the mum is actually voiced by Catherine O’Hara, despite having one of the shortest appearances in the whole movie.

Over The Hedge, 2006

If you think real hard, you’ll remember those porcupines in the film who didn’t really do much, but had those super funny triplets. Well yeah, Catherine plays Penny the mum, which I had no idea about.

Monster House, 2006

It seems Catherine O’Hara just really plays animated mothers really well, but just like her appearances in Over the Hedge and Chicken Little, her screentime in Monster House is nothing Oscar-worthy. Still incredible though.

Brother Bear 2, 2006

Given how busy O’Hara was in 2006, it’s no surprise that her role in Brother Bear 2 was TINY. In the film, she plays Kata, the Moosette, which peeps probably didn’t even pick up given the very small appearance.

Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses, 2006

Yep, the evil Duchess Rowena is none other than Catherine O’Hara. Love it when she reprises her very scarce roles as the villain.

Modern Family, 2015

Yep, Catherine O’Hara made a stunning appearance in Modern Family, looking a lot more like what we’re used to seeing. It was only for one episode, however, and just when Schitt’s Creek was first starting off.
