I want to make sure that I report this story evenly and fairly, so I am going to start off with a positive: it is absolutely incredible that the Daily Mail has someone on staff who is able to identify if Lisa Wilkinson has worn a duplicate outfit by sight. I have a hard enough time remembering what people’s faces look like, let alone what items of clothing they have worn.
In addition to their preternaturally gifted outfit police, I also have to admire the tenacity of a media outlet for running a story based solely on the concept of the thriftiness of wearing the same blouse twice in a four month period.
Don’t get me wrong – we love trash here at P.TV. Trash is great. All the good things in life are trash. But this is a level of trash ingenuity I would tip my hat to if I was the sort of person who wore a hat.
What am I talking about, you might ask? Wrap your eyes around this pearler of a story:
Shamefully, it’s all true. Today Show host Lisa Wilkinson did indeed don the same blouse twice with nary a third of a year passing between wearings – or, as the Daily Mail put it, she “looks to have a preference when it comes to attire, seen sporting the same floral shirt, just four months apart.”
Not only did she flagrantly wear the same top twice, the top in question was also a little bit racy, possessing a “strategic cut-out just above the bust“. Sounds sexy, doesn’t it? Check out this, it’s basically a bikini:
Hey, remember that time that Karl Stefanovic wore the same suit every day for a year to point out how crazy sexist the media is towards his co-hosts’ fashion choices? Well, the Daily Mail apparently don’t, despite having very much covered it.
Wilkinson (champion that she is) seems to have taken it in stride, very sarcastically tweeting about how she’d been found out, with a screenshot of the article in question:
I am sooo busted! Seems I’ve been seen hosting breakfast TV wearing same blouse with “strategic cutout above the bust” just 4months apart!!! pic.twitter.com/hx1AaQw2b2

Don’t worry about it Lisa, I’ve been known to wear the same shirt twice in as many days. What a pack of jokers.
