Lena Dunham Calls Woody Allen a “Perve” During Sundance Panel

Overnight, Lena Dunham participated in a Sundance Film Festival panel with Kristen Wiig, Mindy Kaling and Orange Is The New Black and Weeds creator Jenji Kohan – aka, the kind of event we’d gladly give our pinkie toe to attend.
The panel was called ‘Serious Ladies’, and true to its name, the women discussed some fairly weighty topics, one of which was the public’s perception of filmmaker Woody Allen.
Dunham got fired up by the notion that critics tend to see her Girls character Hannah as a direct representation of herself and her experiences, when the same it not true for filmmakers like Allen.
“Woody Allen is proof that people don’t think everything he says in his films is stuff that he does because all he was doing was making out with 17-year-olds for years and we didn’t say anything about it,” she said.
“No one thought that Woody Allen is making out with a 17-year old in Manhattan and said, I guess he’s a real perv,” Dunham continued, “and then lo and behold …”
“He fell in love,” said Kristen Wiig, finishing the sentence for her.
You can watch the entire panel below, or just play our Lena Dunham Drinking Game wherein every time some douchelord in the comments thread mentions her ‘sex abuse scandal’, you drink until the room spins and you no longer feel anything.
