Legends Raise Over $6000 In Just 5 Hours To Buy Duncan From Q&A A Toaster

You might think the internet is only good for porn and harassment, and most of the time you’d be correct, but very occasionally it pulls through in the best possible way.

Australia‘s favourite Q&A guest, Duncan Storrar, inspired the #IStandWithDuncan hashtag after putting a face to the actual problems less fortunate Australians are dealing with while the wealthy get tax cut upon tax cut.
Storrar was an audience member on Monday night’s episode and gained a fair bit of attention after pointing out to Assistant Treasurer Kelly O’Dwyer that to the rich the cuts were trivial but to him the same amounts of money would mean everything, having earned minimum wage all his life due to both disability and his level of education.
O’Dwyer’s response was less than impressive, waffling about trickle down economics and pies (for reals) before trying to tell him that the tax cuts were being used in more crucial ways, like helping a café with a $2 million turnover buy a $6000 toaster. Yikes.
So, in lieu of being able to immediately change the systematic issues that have created an immense wealth gap and generational poverty, some fucking legends got together, made a GoFundMe page and raised Storrar enough money to buy himself a toaster – $6000, according to O’Dwyer.
From the page:
Hey – Duncan seems like a good bloke and every little bit of cash goes a long way. We reckon he deserves a bit of a helping hand so we’ve decided to buy him a new toaster. 6 grand oughtta cover it. And if he has a little bit left over, maybe he can take his kids to the movies or something.
At press time (read: the time I posted this) it was up to $6,120 and had only been going for 5 hours. If you’re feeling so inclined and you’ve got some cash to chip in, you can and should do so here.
