Leaked Emails Slam Angelina Jolie, Adam Driver; Praise Fassbender’s D

Angelina Jolie is “a minimally talented spoiled brat” with an “[insane] and rampaging spoiled ego” if leaked emails between Sony Pictures producer Scott Rudin and co-chairman Amy Pascal are to be believed, which they probably shouldn’t be, because they’re unbelievably unhinged and Angelina Jolie is perfect.
End of discussion.
In leaked emails obtained by Gawker’s Defamer in the wake of last week’s massive Sony haemorrhage and sent over the course of the last year, Rudin and Pascal engage in a number of beyond egocentric and palpably furious exchanges centred around the moribund Steve Jobs biopic, which was written by Aaron Sorkin and was originally slated to be directed by David Fincher
Despite a supposedly brilliant script that would do for cinema in the 21st century what Citizen Kane did for the preceding generation, the beleaguered production suffered its biggest setback earlier this year when both Fincher and Christian Bale pulled out of the titular role. They were soon after tentatively replaced by Danny Boyle; both Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael Fassbender were also tied to the project at various stages. Last month, Sony finally withdrew from the project entirely and Universal have now picked it up.
Industry machinations aside, what you’ve evidently come here to read is sordid exchanges about Fames with whom you’re undoubtedly familiar. Here are the best excerpts from Rudin and Pascal’s leaked emails. If you’ve got a spare half hour, you really should read them all here.
The feud between the long-collaborating colleagues (The Social Network, Captain Phillips) begins in February when Jolie objects to Fincher directing Jobs instead of her long-gestating version of Cleopatra. Rudin then tells Pascal, “YOU BETTER SHUT ANGIE DOWN BEFORE SHE MAKES IT VERY HARD FOR DAVID TO DO JOBS” before slamming her Jolie for her “insanity and rampaging spoiled ego.”
Writes Rudin:

I’m not destroying my career over a minimally talented spoiled brat who thought nothing of shoving this off her plate for eighteen months so she could go direct a movie [Unbroken, in Australia]. I have no desire to be making a movie with her, or anybody, that she runs and that we don’t. She’s a camp event and a celebrity and that’s all and the last thing anybody needs is to make a giant bomb with her that any fool could see coming.

In another exchange with Fincher, in which he lies about ditching Jobs, the director takes a shot at Adam Driver reportedly being cast as the villain in Star Wars: “[WTF] Adam Driver is a terrible idea.” Another reveals DiCaprio laments having not been involved in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights. Then, when discussion turns back to finding a replacement for Bale in Michael Fassbender, all anybody can talk about is the winning performance of his sizeable phallus in Shame.

Fassbender is not a star yet, but a really fine actor who is putting together a terrific body of work.

He was sooo good in Prometheus and X-MenShame just makes you feel bad to have normal sized male genitalia. Unless Aaron is Johnny Wad Holmes [sic; the inspiration for Boogie Nights] he’s in for a bummer of an evening. I’d steer mark to [Fassbender’s] roles in Inglorious Bastards where he’s basically Cary Grant, Prometheus where he’s basically Peter [O’Toole], and X-Men: First Class where he’s just very very good. His role in 12 Years and his performance of it rivals Ralph Fiennes’ iconic depiction of twisted, racial sadistic violence as Amon Goeth for making horror watchable. Also very good as Rochester in Cary Fukunaga’s Jane Eyre.

Today in the next round of leaked Sony exec emails, Kevin Hart is a whore who, per Defamer, “thinks he deserves more than $3 million to tweet”. Hollywood! Can you even?
