‘N Sync’s Lance Bass Celebrated “Winning Bid” On Brady Bunch House A Tad Early

Former ‘N Sync star Lance Bass thought he was the lucky new owner of the original and extremely 1970s The Brady Bunch house after submitting the highest bid. There was a Twitter announcement and a heap of celebration but now Bass is claiming the property agent has swooped back in with a brand new *massive* buyer.

So last night, Bass announced his bid had been accepted. Though much of the interior of the home was filmed on set, the exterior was used for the show cementing its name in family sitcom history AKA big bucks.

The home was listed for an easy AUD $2.55 million… which I suppose isn’t much for celebrities but a shit ton for us mere mortals so cue the “oooo” and “ahhhs”. Obviously, Bass didn’t disclose how much he offered but let’s say it’s a lot.

Bass announced the news via his Twitter yesterday writing: “Super excited to announce they accepted my offer on the #BradyBunch house last night!!! This is going to be a fun project!”

Maureen McCormick AKA Marcia Brady on the show tweeted her congratulations to Bass who said he was “honoured” she approved.

Then, today Bass announced that the deal was in fact, not sealed:

I’m feeling heartbroken today. As many of you may have heard, we placed the winning bid on the iconic Brady Bunch house – at least that’s what we were told. The agent representing the estate informed us we made the winning bid (which was WAY over the asking price) after the final deadline for all offers had passed – even writing up the “winning bid” for my team after informing me of the good news.

Isn’t a deadline a deadline?

This was a dream come true for me and I spent the night celebrating amongst friends, family, and fans alike. The next day due to “unforeseen circumstances” the same agent informed us that there’s another Corporate Buyer (Hollywood studio) who wants the house at every cost.

We were prepared to go even higher but [was] totally discouraged by the seller’s agent, they will outperform any bid with unlimited resources. How is this fair or legal?? How can I compete with a billion dollar corporate entity.

I truly believe I was used to drive up price of the home knowing very well that this corporation intended on making their offer and it’s not a good feeling. I feel used but most importantly I’m hurt and saddened by this highly questionable outcome. I just hope it’s not demolished.  Thanks for all the love and support.”

Ernie Carswell – one of the agents behind the property listing told the Los Angeles Times the deal wasn’t done yet because the seller had yet to make the final decision.
