Kylie Jenner has responded to the mass backlash that ensued after asking fans to contribute to a crowdfunding effort for her makeup artist Samuel Rauda‘s brain surgery.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kylie Jenner wrote: “I feel it’s important for me to clear up this false narrative that I’ve asked fans for money and am not paying for my makeup artist’s bills.”
“Sam isn’t my own makeup artist and unfortunately we don’t have a personal relationship anymore but I have worked with him a few years ago and I think he’s the sweetest.”
“I saw my current makeup artist and friend Ariel post about Sam‘s accident and his family’s gofundme and I called Ariel immediately to see what happened to Sam,” Kylie continued.
“After learning in more detail about the accident, it compelled me to visit his gofundme which was set at 10k. They had already raised 6k so I put it in 5k to reach their original goal and though i’d post on my stories to gain more awareness if anyone also felt compelled to share or donate,” Kylie Jenner added.
“I don’t know how all of this got so twisted but his family has reached out through Ariel and are very appreciative of all the donations, prayers, and love towards Sam.”
Soz Kylie Jenner, but I ain’t buying it. If the self-made billionaire saw that the limit had been raised, why would she share the GoFundMe link without just reaching it herself privately? Why did she have to make a big spectacle and ask her fans to donate when she’s the one rolling in cash?
I’m also not into the excuse that because she doesn’t have a personal relationship with him anymore, she couldn’t fork out more than $5K. Do you not understand the concept of charity? You don’t need to be besties with someone to want to help out. Her fans have zero relationship with the man, ZERO, and they’ve now forked out, which is great, but again, you’re the billionaire.
According to the GoFundMe shared by Kylie Jenner, her makeup artist had brain surgery on Sunday after being thrown from a moving car, but – as we all know too well – the American healthcare system is an absolute shitshow and any sort of major operation is pricey.
“Sam underwent major surgery on Sunday, 3/14/21. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him. I know he is loved by many. Your donations will help cover the cost of his medical expenses and what’s to come. Please know that a donation of any amount is greatly appreciated,” the GoFundMe page reads.
However, fans were quick to point out that Kylie Jenner – who makes $19,000USD per hour – has the means to cover the costs of his medical expenses, rather than asking her fans to.
