Yeah, So Kylie Jenner Wore An $8000 Human Hair Ponytail To Her Birthday

A week on from the international news event that was Kylie Jenner‘s birthday party, the stories keep coming out, and this one’s definitely, um … hair-raising. In a recent, the reality star’s hair extension artist revealed that the long, luxurious ponytail she wore on the night was actually made of human hair, and would have cost a cool $US 8000.

Speaking to Refinery 29, Violet Teriti said: “Kylie’s weft was about 400 grams, which I typically sell for between $6000 and $8000 … It’s Slavic hair sourced from Russia. There’s nothing better than that hair because it’s the only hair that doesn’t need to be bleached and processed so many times, or even toned and glossed – it’s naturally already highlighted.”

In a true Kylie Jenner power move, the star only decided to go with the blonde ponytail with a day’s notice, leaving the stylist scrambling to source it, and presumably leaving the donor with only an hour or two to learn the words to ‘I Dreamed A Dream‘ before having her tresses cruelly lopped off. That’s how that works, right? Anyway, Teriti said:

“It was really late notice – only a day! Usually it takes about a week to 10 days to receive specific bundles and two days to customize them, but luckily I had enough hair for her so I could rush it. A lot of people think it was a ponytail, but it was actually a weft, which is good when people are going really, really long because you have to have a lot of hair to have it look thick and long.”

In case you were wondering, Jenner went back to her regular hair the next day. The whereabouts of the ponytail are currently unknown.
