Kyle Sandilands Found Guilty Of Radio Code Breach

Kyle Sandilands has been found guilty of breaching decency standards for his memorable “fat slag” comments about an Australian journalist.

After conducting an investigation into the tirade, the national media watchdog Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) released a statement today announcing the cock jock’s breach of code, which they accurately depict as demeaning toward women:

Kyle Sandilands’ comments about a female journalist were deeply derogatory and offensive, and amounted to a breach of the Commercial Radio Codes of Practice 2011 (the codes). The ACMA has begun formal steps to impose a second licence condition on broadcaster 2DAY FM Sydney which would prohibit the radio station from broadcasting indecent content and content that demeans women or girls.

The “conditions” put in place to prevent similarly offensive mouthing off, includes the stipulation that his Austereo breakfast show must be broadcast on a 30 second delay.

Sandilands’ tirade, for which he has since issued an apology, led to the significant loss of sponsorship dollars for his station 2Day FM. In fact, the station really has taken the full hit for Sandilands’ behaviour, with the man himself getting away relatively unpunished for his misdemeanours.

The last time his morning show was pulled from the airwaves was after he probed a 14 year-old about her sexual history shortly after she had said she had been sexually assaulted.

It seems this time it will take more than calling someone “a piece of shit” for Austereo to put their number one ratings puller under probation.
