Kyle Mooney’s Unaired SNL 40 Sketch Is Magnificently Weird And Awkward

Despite the extremely large amount of airtime it got, the sheer volume of returning stars meant that not everyone on the current cast of Saturday Night Live could get their mug onto the screen for the epic SNL 40 special that aired last week.

Much of the show’s current crop of featured players felt the squeeze, with some limited to a single sketch, or a brief introduction speech, or even dropped completely from the broadcast.
Kyle Mooney, for example, was one of those not seen at all. But the guy you probably didn’t realise is still working for SNL wasn’t totally inactive during the lead up to the show. Turns out he’d made a sketch for SNL 40 that was ultimately cut for any number of reasons – time, unsuitability, or the fact that it’s just straight up fucking weird.
Saturday Night Live put the unaired sketch up on them internets for you all to enjoy, and trust me when I say that this shit is legitimately bananas.
A vox-pop style sketch, Mooney awkwardly approaches strangers in NYC and mumbles things.
That’s it. That’s all it is. And it’s freakin’ hypnotic.

I’ve already said the phrase “ready to laugh and drop til your socks come off?” out loud more than once this morning. I think… I think it might have broken me.
