Former Disney actor Kyle Massey has been charged with one count of immoral communication with a minor, for allegedly sending sexually explicit content to her on Snapchat.
Massey, now 29, is best known for starring as Cory Baxter in the hit Disney’s series That’s So Raven and its spinoff show Cory In The House in the 2000s.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, which reported the news first, Massey is accused of sending sexually explicit photos to a girl on Snapchat, between December 2018 and January 2019. The girl was 13 years old at the time and Massey was 27.
Per TMZ, the sexually explicit material allegedly sent by the actor included a pornographic video clip and a video of a man who appeared to be Massey exposing himself.
The outlet was told the new charge is related to a 2019 lawsuit, in which Massey was sued for $1.5 million for allegedly sending suggestive texts, images, and videos to the same girl. The actor denied the allegations at the time and claimed he was being extorted.
The 2019 lawsuit claimed that the girl and her mother met Massey in 2009 when she was four years old. The actor allegedly stayed in touch with the girl, who was interested in a career in entertainment. According to the lawsuit, Massey became close friends with the girl’s family and suggested that she move in with him and his girlfriend in Los Angeles in December 2018.
Shortly after, it is alleged Massey started sending sexually explicit content to the girl.
At the time, the actor’s mother Angel Massey vehemently denied the allegations on Instagram and called her son the “victim”. She repeated her words on Wednesday, via the social media platform.
“My son Kyle is the victim today just as he was back on February 14, 2019,” she wrote.
Massey was supposed to appear for his arraignment on Monday in King County Criminal Court, Washington, but failed to show.
The actor starred in That’s So Raven, as the titular character’s younger brother, for four seasons. Cory In The House ran for two seasons on Disney Channel.
