The Newest Pic Of K-Stew As Princess Diana Is Probably Good If You Have Prince Philip’s Eyesight

Kristen Stewart

Just to preface this yarn, I reckon Kristen Stewart looks fine as Princess Diana. My editorial team extremely disagrees though, hence the headline. I’ve been outnumbered, outnumbered!!! Anyway, let’s get into it.

Stewart stars as Princess Diana in Spencer, directed by Pablo Larraín. It focuses on a single weekend in the life of Diana, as the royal family celebrates the holidays at their Sandringham estate in Norfolk in 1991. There, Diana decides to divorce Prince Charles.

Larraín is known for a slew of titles, including the Academy Award-nominated film Jackie, starring Natalie Portman.

In this new picture, shared by the film’s American distributor Neon, Kristen Stewart is basically unrecognisable as Princess Diana.

“That sapphire,” Neon tweeted along with the pic. “Kristen Stewart in Pablo Larraín’s SPENCER. Coming this fall.”

Again, I think she looks fine!!!

Along with the picture, Spencer also announced the casting of Poldark star Jack Farthing as Prince Charles. He was also in Netflix’s rom-com Love Wedding Repeat.

Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew from the Harry Potter flicks), Sally Hawkins (The Shape Of Water), and Sean Harris (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) have also joined the cast.

Not to mention, the director of photography is Claire Mathon (Portrait Of A Lady On Fire) and the costume designer is Jacqueline Durran (Little Women).

Back in late January, Neon shared its first glimpse of Stewart as Diana.

Speaking to Deadline last June, director Larraín explained why he chose Stewart to play Diana.

“Kristen is one of the great actors around today,” Larraín said.

“To do this well, you need something very important in film, which is mystery. Kristen can be many things, and she can be very mysterious and very fragile and ultimately very strong as well, which is what we need. The way she responded to the script and how she is approaching the character, it’s very beautiful to see.

“I think she’s going to do something stunning and intriguing at the same time. She is this force of nature.”

Between this, The Crown, and everything happening with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, we’re really being spoilt with the royal content these days.
