It’s been almost a year since Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, but it is – utterly understandably – still an incident she refers to interviews.
The fall-out from the traumatic event saw her completely reassess how (and how much) she shares her life on social media, which for someone who has made millions via sharing her life with the world, in no small thing.
In a new interview with Allure Magazine, the queen of being famous revealed that she was anxious about travelling to Paris even before the fateful trip, seeing a therapist to help her manage. Allure paraphrases that Kim had “never experienced anxiety like that before”, fearing a terrorist attack.
So North, 4, sensing her mum’s anxiety, gave her something akin to a security blanket.
“She gave me a little plastic treasure box, and she put her little jewels in it — like fake little plastic jewels — and she was like, ‘Mommy, this will keep you safe when you go to Paris.’
“To have something really sweet like that is more important to me than all the jewellery.”
There is something disturbingly ironic in that, given that Kim was robbed of nearly $11 million in jewellery a short while later, but still – North is cute as hell.
It’s not the first time she has spoken publicly about dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. In a 2016 episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians (filmed before the Paris trip), Kim spoke about dealing with feelings of anxiety to friend Jonathan Cheban.
“I’ve been having anxiety lately [about] every last thing. Like even driving here [to lunch], I tried to drive not all the way on the freeway because what happens if a car flips over and hits me? I think of every freak accident.
“Leaving Caitlyn‘s [Jenner] house, and driving down the hill, I was like ‘I don’t care if North is 25, I’m not letting her drive up this hill and down by herself.”
In good news, however, this new interview certainly gives the impression that Kim has found a way to manage her anxiety. It goes into Kim’s life post-robbery, how she and Kanye keep their kids grounded, and how she approaches getting fit (via Instagram, natch), and you can read it all here.
Also: please appreciate Kim in this latex dress by House of Harlot, shot for the cover interview. It’s baby pink IRL, and I’ve never wanted anything more in my life.
