These Killer Customised Vans Put Your Own Dirty Kicks To Shame

To me, shoe customisation used to mean grabbing a black marker pen and drawing that iconic ‘S’ thing on the white bits of my shoes.

Nowadays things are a little bit more elegant. Over the last few years, sneaker culture has absolutely exploded with many teens picking up arts and craft supplies so they can add their own touch to their fave kicks.

It’s this spirit of creativity that led Vans to start the Custom Culture program, an art and design competition that sees schools from around America pitted against each other to see who has the best custom design. Noice right?

To help get those creative juices flowing, Vans enlisted a whole host of celebs, influencers and even an Insta-famous bakery. And I’ve gotta say, they look pretty spectacular.

Among the star-studded list of contributors was Brendan Urie of Panic! At The DiscoBlink 182 guitarist Matt Skiba and Rebecca Minkoff.

Since its inception in 2010, the competition has brought in more than $900,000 to arts education in various schools around the country.

So if you’re looking to spruce up those tired old slip-ons that you’ve been lugging around, grab some glitter, some paint and get cracking!
