Key & Peele’s Super Bowl Oscars Rant Is So On-Point It Hurts

Key & Peele‘s Super Bowl special went to air, and aside from the rapturous laughter you all got out of the return of their much beloved “East West Bowl” sketch – along with the triumphant arrival of everyone’s newest sporting hero in Splendiferous Finch – they managed to just about nail everything throughout the special.

But in particular was this sketch that not only managed to hilariously lampoon two of the NFL‘s most polarising figures, but also deliver possibly the most on-point criticism of the 2015 crop of Academy Award nominees put to air yet.

The fact that their impersonations of Seattle Seahawks players Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch are pretty bang-on aside, the rant itself is spectacularly correct. The academy champions Foxcatcher yet can’t even give it a nomination for Best Picture, despite only using 8 of a total possible maximum 10 nomination slots for the award?
It just… It doesn’t seem right.
