In some rather intriguing news, big Masters of the Universe superfan Kevin Smith is making a new He-Man animated series for Netflix.

The Jay and Silent Bob Reboot director appeared at the annual Power-Con convention, announcing that he’ll be teaming up with Mattel Television to put the show together. He’ll serve as both showrunner and executive producer.

The show is called Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and will focus on “unresolved storylines of the classic ’80s era.”

“I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Graysull, but also their entire Universe,” Smith said in a presser.

He explained the animated series will pick up “right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor.”

“Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”

You might be familiar with Powerhouse Animation for their work on Netflix’s elite series Castlevania.

Over on Twitter, Smith thanked both Mattel and Netflix for “letting me play in your universe.”

“I promise: this will not be a Stinkor!”

The streaming giant is already home to the quite frankly excellent animated series She-Ra, the sister of He-Man. It’s still early days though, so it’s not yet clear whether or not there’ll be some sort of crossover.

Smith is currently gearing up for the release of the Jay and Silent Reboot. Smith and Jason Mewes star in the titular roles along with a heap of big names like Chris Hemsworth, Joe Manganiello, Craig Robinson, Frankie Shaw, and Stephen Blatt.
