Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker just announced the birth of his first child on Instagram and they’re a precious angel who deserves our protection.
We don’t know a lot about bub, except that they’re cute AF, with a full head of hair, and an interest in the colour purple.
They’re the first child of Kevin and his wife, Sophie Lawrence.
Kevin captioned the adorable pic on Instagram simply with “look at this peach”.
I mean, LOOK AT HER! I’m not crying, you are.
People, including fello Aussie muso Jack River, have flooded the comments with congratulations.
In November, Sophie shared some loved-up, v. pregnant snaps with Kevin to Instagram, revealing that they were expecting their first child. “Coming jan ‘21,” she wrote.
The November announcement came literally the day after Kevin both swept the ARIAs with five (5!) wins and two Grammy nominations for his 2020 record The Slow Rush.
He suited up for the Grammys from his hometown of Perth earlier this week, where he lost out on both Best Alternative Music Album and Best Rock Song. But it’s okay, because he has this bb.
Kevin and Sophie, the co-owner of natural, sugar-free ice cream company, Denada Co., got married in February 2019. According to the Daily Mail, the couple had 150 Macca’s cheeseburgers delivered to the WA vineyard location at midnight, then partied until dawn.
Speaking to the ABC about impending fatherhood in December last year, Kevin admitted “I’m not really excited for how it’s going to influence my life”.
He continued: “I’m just bracing for it and accepting how everything is going to change. I’ve been told that there’s nothing else like it. I think it’s good, from a purely artistic level, to shake it up. That’s only a good thing.”
Hopefully Kevin Parker and Sophie Lawrence’s first child means we can expect Tame Impala to shake it up artistically, ideally with a cover of The Wiggles for Like A Version and to settle the score entertain his new bébé.
