Reigning ASP world title holder and bald-headed surf freak Kelly Slater has taken out the Quiksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast, beating out local hero Taj Burrow.
Taj was looking good after convincingly defeating an in-form Jordy Smith in the semi finals (17.56 to 11.40 points), but Slater clawed his way onto a wave in the last 90 seconds of the final to secure the win – his 46th elite tour win. This latest victory will keep Slater in his current position at the top of the ASP world rankings, while making the finals will take Burrow past his countryman, Mick Fanning, into third place on the rankings.
Can Taj take out the world title this year?
