Katy Faust Was On Q&A Tonight; We Are All Stupider For Having Listened To Her

Tonight’s Q&A was real dangerous, you guys. Even one of the first tweets that popped up said ‘Tonight’s Q&A is going to make me real angry, isn’t it?’

And so it did. Katy Faust was on the panel – you may know her better as that American woman who ‘supports traditional marriage’, after growing up with lesbian mothers.
Katy tried to say something during the first question about Head of Trade Union Royal Commission Dyson Heydon attending a Liberal Party fundraiser, which was ballsy. But, she got muddled between a liberal and the Liberal Party, then Tony Jones awkwardly coughed and said ‘Let’s move to a topic you know more about.’
Here’s some things that Katy Faust reckons are ‘fact’, and ‘known to be true’:
  • ‘We need to make secular decisions based on natural law.’
  • She believes there definitely are natural laws that prove that children who have same sex parents are being mistreated, but it has absolutely nothing to do with her religion.
  • Something about being silenced and personally not being able to speak up about her beliefs, because no gay person has ever experienced that.
  • Having a mother and father is ‘one of the most self-evident rights out there’.
  • Those studies that found children of same sex parents were no different to children of heterosexual parents could be using dodgy samples.
  • White noise, possibly? Fucking hell.
After Faust’s terrifying rant finished, Labor Senator Sam Dastyari came out with this cracker: “As a politician, I want to say I disagree but still respect your views, but I’m finding that very difficult.”
And, if there was an applause meter on Q&A, Federal Greens leader Richard Di Natale definitely would have won tonight:
And then they changed topics and so Katy Faust had to stop talking because apparently the only topic she can speak about is how totally not prejudiced and hateful she is, right before actively saying things that are prejudiced and hateful and further contributing to the oppression of people who are simply requesting the same rights as everyone else (for example, the women that raised her).
Oh, and she also quoted Eric Abetz
Alrighty then, good hustle everyone! Aaaaaand break.
