Kate McKinnon Explains How She Got Her Bloody Ripper Aussie Accent

The always-excellent Kate McKinnon, breakout star of Saturday Night Live, will soon be seen in the raunchy comedy Rough Night, about an out-of-control bachelorette party and a dead male stripper.
The American actress, who stars alongside Scarlett Johansson, Jillian Bell and Ilana Glazer in the film, deploys her well-known Aussie accent in the role of Pippa (a true blue name if we’ve ever heard one).
In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, McKinnon explained how she learned her broad ‘Strayan drawl in the first place, and even demonstrated it for the perpetually-flummoxed host:
For a better taste of McKinnon’s Aussie accent – which may not be entirely spot-on, but it still pretty dang amusing – check out this SNL sketch alongside Bill Hader and Louis C.K.:

Rough Night opens in Australia on June 15.
