Josh Duhamel Is Being Torn A New One For His Fucked Take On The Armie Hammer Allegations

This week, Josh Duhamel has broken his silence on taking over from Armie Hammer on the Jennifer Lopez action / rom-com, Shotgun Wedding, and his response is… not it.

In a cover interview with Man About Town, Josh Duhamel revealed that after he signed on to replace Armie Hammer, he sent the Call Me By Your Name star an email.

“I know Armie a little bit, and when I knew I was gonna get the part, I emailed him and said, ‘Listen, I know you are going through it right now, I don’t like to get roles like this and I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you and good luck, get through it,’” Duhamel said.

“He emailed me right back and said thank you so who knows, hopefully he gets through it.”

I understand that cancel culture is a problematic entity, but ya know what else is problematic? Sympathising with someone who’s been accused of sexual abuse by multiple women.

Josh Duhamel immediately started copping flak for defending Armie and one critic slid into his DMs to call him out on it.

As shared to Deuxmoi, Josh Duhamel wrote to a fan: “I don’t support any of his behaviour, but I choose to believe people can learn from their mistakes and grow. I don’t believe in cancelling or casting people aside because I don’t believe in what they do.”

The fan then responded, “I understand what you’re saying, but he is being accused of rape and physical abuse towards multiple women. I would hope you ‘don’t believe’ in what he does, because it’s horrible and disgusting. I feel for his victims, not him.”

“I just said I don’t support any of his behaviour,” Josh Duhamel responded.

The convo then concluded with the fan writing: “You seem like a nice person, and I’m sure you are well intentioned because ultimately, yes, it would be great for abusers to get the help they need. I think I was tunred off by the fact that hardly any well known figures have said anything in regards to the women who have come forward. It’s a heartbreaking situation and I feel terrible for the victims and his ex wife and children.

“I hope as a society we start to change, and have our first thought be concern for the victims. Because I wouldn’t want all that they hear to be concern for him, if that makes sense.”

In January, a series of graphic DMs allegedly between Armie Hammer and several women leaked on social media.

The screenshots appeared to show Hammer speaking to the women in a way that is domineering and violent. At some points, the DMs speak of drinking blood, describe scenes of sexual control, and references cannibalism.
