The Queer Eye star has been announced as the first non-female cover star of the British publication in 35 years which is a pretty damn remarkable feat and just another example of how he’s breaking down barriers and making a difference.

“My body is ready ???? 1st non Female cover star of @cosmopolitanuk in 35 YEARS,” he captioned the pic.

According to a Cosmo UK representative, the last non-female cover star was Boy George who graced the cover back in December 1984, so it’s high time they featured another inspiring lad.

“Omfg! Congrats babe this is MAJOR!!!” skier Gus Kenworthy commented, while plus-size model Tess Holliday wrote, “Yes babyyyyyyy!! We are both Cosmo UK cover stars now!”

Van Ness’s ice skating friend, icon Michelle Kwan, even took note of the impressive cover, saying, “I need a copy.”

Cosmopolitan UK also addressed its groundbreaking choice by including, “Yep. We did it. You’re totally welcome,” in the magazine’s cover lines.

It’s also worth noting that the cover’s debut comes just one day after World AIDS Day, which Van Ness also recognised on his social media, not long after revealing that he’s been living with HIV.

Fuck the sun, the world is illuminated by the light of qween JVN.
