‘Joker’ Just Beat ‘Deadpool’s Box Office Record And Ryan Reynolds Has Thoughts

Joker has become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, edging out the previous record-holder Deadpool, and you’d better believe Ryan Reynolds has something to say about it.

The actor took to Twitter to share an altered version of the movie’s poster, which shows the Joaquin Phoenix character standing atop the famous stairs.

His version includes the names of characters from other R-rated films that Joker beat on its way to the top of the box office.

The list features the likes of Neo from The MatrixPennywise from It and Jesus from, erm, The Passion Of the Christ.

Reynolds also included Hugh Jackman, apparently playing himself in Logan, as well as The Wolfpack from The Hangover films, Mr Grey from Fifty Shades and Ted from Ted.

He also had some choice words for the man himself:

Joker has made US $788 million worldwide since its debut earlier this month, which is enough to unseat Deadpool, whose 2016 release ended with an international haul of US $783 million.

According to CNN, the record for an R-rated film in the United States still belongs to The Passion Of The Christ, which made US $370 million in 2004.

Joker has thus far grossed US $259 million in the country, so it has quite a way go to.
