John Krasinski And Emily Blunt Have Some Ideas For A ‘Quiet Place’ Sequel

John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Quiet Place

A Quiet Place was one of our favourite movies of the year – not to mention being scary as hell – so we’re quite delighted to hear that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, the husband and wife team behind it, are already planning story lines for a potential sequel.

The film was about a family trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by alien creatures with an acute sense of hearing, and [spoiler alert], it ended with Krasinski’s character bravely sacrificing himself in order to save his wife and children.

This means his character is probably going to be out as far as any potential sequel goes, unless he appears in flashbacks of some kind, but in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Blunt hinted that this is fairly unlikely to happen.

The actress said that while it might be interesting to look back, the idea of what’s next for the Abbott family is more interesting, adding, “I think people feel very invested in this family … I think it’s such an open book right now, and certainly for John who is lasering into something as we speak.”

John Krasinski, who wrote and directed the film, initially said he didn’t want anything to do with a potential sequel, as he felt like the original was “special and unique”, but he has since come around to the idea of a different story in the same post-apocalyptic landscape.

He told EW that A Quiet Place is unlike Alien or Jaws because there is not necessarily just one main villain but rather, a whole new world with a different set of rules and circumstances, where it’s possible to “play in very different facets” of the story.

The sequel to A Quiet Place is set to be released in May of 2020, so we’ll find out which way it’s going to go by then.
