John Krasinski has been hard at work planning a follow-up to A Quiet Place for several months, but in a recent interview with Deadline, the actor and director shed some light on what we can expect from the sequel, and whether or not we can expect any familiar faces to return.
Krasinski’s character in the first film died protecting his kids from the monsters, and he joked that he clearly will not be coming back for this reason, but went on to hint that the other members of the Abbott family, including real-life wife Emily Blunt, might not appear again either.
He told the publication:
“Most sequels are about the return of a hero or a villain, [and] you take this character that people loved once and you bring them back, and you have to create a new world around them. We have the exact opposite setup.”
He continued:
“We have the world, and you can drop whoever you want into that world and everyone feels connected to it. The reason I decided to go back, in the end, was this world is so rich, and it’s so much fun to explore. There are so many different things to see now.”
John Krasinski did not give any indication of when we might expect to see the next Quiet Place movie, but until then, you’ve got Bird Box to scratch that survival horror itch, not to mention a million and one Bird Box memes.
