John Krasinski Had A Total Bawl Watching Emily Blunt In ‘Mary Poppins Returns’

Surprisingly jacked Office daddy John Krasinski had a real big cry watching his wife Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns, and hold on, he’s gonna make me cry.

Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote the home entertainment release of his directorial debut, A Quiet Place, Time writes that Krasinski talked about how the couple showed the new flick to their daughters over Thanksgiving, and needed to “prepare them for how emotional it is“.

But what he ultimately revealed his how much of a big sook he is: when he first saw the movie he says he cried so much he used up an entire box of tissues, and a stack of napkins. By the time the napkins were gone as well, he gave up and just started snotting into his sweater.

The first time I ever saw it, they gave you a tissue box in the screening room. I was like, ‘Oh that’s very nice. I don’t have a cold.’ And they started screening the movie and 25 minutes into it, I stood up and went to the back of the room. And Emily said, ‘Do you not like it? I’ve never seen this happen.’

I was pushing through all the bagels and muffins that were in the back looking for napkins. I was like, ‘I need anything to stop this crying!’ I was crying so much! I blew through the tissue box in 20 minutes. I had to go to the napkins, and then when I ran out of the napkins, it was all sweater. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful films. I think it’s exactly what everybody needs for the holidays. It’s pure joy.”

It’s not the first time Krasinski has acknowledged being a major fan of his wife’s work: he told E! back in 2016 that by the time he and Blunt started dating in 2008 he’d seen his fave rom com, The Devil Wears Prada, 75 times. And when he was almost caught rewatching his comfort movie, he played it off like he was just watching porn.

We had just started dating and she had come over to my house. She popped by in between some things and I was watching it. She opened the door and I flipped the channel and she looked at me like, ‘Were you just watching porn?’…I think it was better for me at the time for her to think I was watching porn than watching The Devil Wears Prada for the 75th time.

Just some wholesome couple goals for ya this Thursday arvo.

Mary Poppins Returns is in cinemas January 1.
