Joel Edgerton Tipped For Katheryn Bigelow’s ‘Kill Bin Laden’

So apparently the crack director-writer team behind The Hurt Locker, Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal, have spent the last several months workshopping a new war-inspired film project based on the United States’ invasion of Afghanistan – tentatively titled Kill Bin Laden.

According to the LA Times the movie is about U.S. special forces’ attempt to root out Osama bin Laden from Afghanistan’s Tora Bora district – based on a memoir supposedly scribed by a member of the special ops team involved in the Tora Bora mission after the Sept. 11 attacks.

After recent events the screenplay is going to need tweaking.

Rumoured to be the frontrunner for the movie’s lead role is Joel Edgerton whose career has been gathering momentum in Hollywood following his brief-but-terrific turn in David Michod’s Animal Kingdom. He is co-starring alongside Tom Hardy in the Warrior due for release in September about ultimate fighting.

Edgerton was also tipped to replace Matt Damon for the next Bourne movie but that ultimately went to The Hurt Locker break out star, Jeremy Renner.
