Joel Edgerton Is Disney’s New Leading Man

‘Our’ Joel Edgerton has been gigging in Hollywood for years now but so far hasn’t yet managed to elevate his status from notable-peripheral-character to proper Leading Man prestige (including his top billing role in terrible-looking boxing flick Warrior). Edgerton’s latest American movie is the Disney production The Odd Life Of Timothy Green. It is the latest project by writer/director Peter Hedges (What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?) and, based on the trailer, has the same kind of magical story-telling feel of Tim Burton’s Big Fish.

The movie is about happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (played by Jennifer Garner and Edgerton), who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.

If the synopsis isn’t enough to get your allergies acting up, watch the trailer below in which Joel not only holds his own but manages to light up the screen, effortlessly selling the kind, caring dad vibes. Hollywood’s leading man club better take note.
