According to TMZ, the Alaskan Klee Kai was being walked by the couple’s dog walker when he broke free from his leash and ran out into the street. Waldo had reportedly been spooked by a pedestrian. A rep for Jonas described the loss as a “freak accident.”

Waldo joined the Jonas-Turner family in April of 2018. The couple own another dog, Porky Basquiat Jonas, of the same breed and litter who they adopted in 2017.

Waldo was introduced to the world in a post on Porky’s Instagram.

“Me, my parents and I have adopted my actual brother from the same litter,” the family shared. “Please welcome my little brother Waldo Picasso Jonas.”

Both of the pups’ Instagram pages have been flooded with comments from fans sharing their condolences. Others have taken to the couple’s personal pages to send their love.

Back in April, Turner shared her first couple of pictures of Waldo on Instagram. He’s the one in the red harness.

Waldo and Porky appeared with Jonas in PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive issue last November.

“It was the best day of work I’ve ever had,” the artist said.

“When I’m done touring and I go back and I see those two dogs, it makes me really happy.”
