Yesterday, we were questioning the very concept of LOVE? after reports that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez had called off their two-year engagement, but we can rest easy today, as the couple have officially denied these claims and appear to still be on track.
In a joint statement to USA Today, delivered via A-Rod’s representative Ron Berkowitz, the couple said: “All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things.” Releasing such a brief denial is honestly a bit of a power move, and I respect it.
The couple were last seen together at the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida in February, one year on from when Jennifer Lopez and Shakira played their legendary half-time show. He is currently in Miami, while she is shooting a film in the Caribbean.
The breakup rumours were stoked over the weekend after a pair of cryptic Instagram posts. She shared a compilation of old clips that showed her happy and smiling, captioned “find a good reason to laugh”, while he shared a photo of himself alone on a yacht, asking followers about their weekend plans.
Last month, there were rumours that Rodriguez had been jumping on FaceTime with Madison LeCroy of the Bravo show Southern Charm, but his reps quickly shut this speculation down, saying “he doesn’t know this woman.”
LeCroy has since turned off her Instagram comments and friends say she was “blindsided” by the breakup rumours.
