Jennifer Lawrence Goes Full BAMF In Trailer For David O. Russell’s Oscar-Bait Epic ‘Joy’

History tells us that Jennifer Lawrence + anything = ; but add David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook; American Hustle), Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro to the equation?  x , tbh.

The biggest kick-off to next year’s awards season hype comes to you today via ‘JOY‘, Oscar bait of such sizeable, fuck-off proportions they’ve unashamedly pulled the biggest Hollywood soundtrack trick from the book to deliver it – a You Can’t Always Get What You Want choir-boy chorus, AKA the trite trailer equivalent of preparing your Oscar acceptance speech 6 months in advance, cos shit’s in the bag.

From the first look, ‘JOY’ is a promising feat, as Jennifer Lawrence carries the eponymous character through an entangling family drama featuring the essential Shakespearian ingredients: money, power, loyalty corruption:

“JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centred on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces.”

‘JOY’ also stars Dascha Polanco (OITNB), Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen. It’s due for release in Australia next January.
