Jennifer Lawrence Being Awesome Overshadows New ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Trailer

Lionsgate have this morning released the first official full-length trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, once again at the Comic-Con Hall H presentation in Whale’s Vagina [San Diego].

Chill-inducing though it is, featuring a surplus of new footage previously unseen in the film’s teaser trailer – including glimpses of Finnick (Sam Claflin) and Johanna (Jena Malone), the Quarter Quell wetsuit-required arena and more context for an eventual uprising – it’s remarkably similar in tone and structure to the trailer for the first eponymous film in the franchise.
The biggest upshot then from the film’s panel is unanimously being reported to be Jennifer Lawrence, just casually being her awesome herself. Highlights from around the web include:
  • On stunt work: “The hardest stunt for me is probably still just basic running.”
  • On learning parkour for the role: “which obviously I didn’t excel at.”
  • On occupational hazards: “Do you remember when I hit myself in the face so hard with my bow I fell backwards?”
  • On wearing one of the film’s many repurposed Alexander McQueen gowns: “I loved it because it was understated. That’s sarcasm. Wearing it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life, and you can tell, I think. It was huge. Five feet in circumference. I’m not good at walking in giant dresses, as we know.”
  • On kissing co-star Josh Hutcherson: “”Oh my God, we should have brought the clip with the snot. There was a huge string of snot. I’ll put it on YouTube or something, you gotta see it … There’s all this snot coming out of my nose, and when I go to kiss Josh, it connects with his mouth. So, yes, it’ll be very hot.”
Directed by franchise newcomer Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire also stars Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland and is primed for release November 22nd.
