Jason Segel Cast As Author David Foster Wallace In Biopic

Jason Segel will soon be adding “ability to play troubled yet hugely influential American writer in the manner of Johnny Depp as Hunter S Thompson and Nicolas Cage as Charlie Kaufmann alongside “rejuvenated The Muppets and “appears like he would be nice to cuddle” on the Skills and Achievements section of his resume, having been confirmed to be playing David Foster Wallace, author of the critically lauded 1996 novel Infinite Jest, in the upcoming biographical drama The End Of The Tour.

Segel will be joined on screen in the film by The Guy You Used To Call When Michael Cera Was Busy, Until The Social Network Came Out At Least, Jesse Eisenberg playing journalist David Lipsky in this film adaptation of Lipsky’s Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace, a record of the five-day jaunt he took alongside Wallace when Rolling Stone sent him to document the Infinite Jest book tour, Almost Famous-style.

Production is scheduled to begin early next year, so only time will tell if Segel can make the jump from being seriously funny…

…to being just plain serious.
