Jane Birkin Is Coming To Australia

Music, style, and film icon, mother of Charlotte and artistic muse, Jane Birkin, is bringing her considerable repertoire to Adelaide as part of the 2012 Adelaide Festival in a concert set to pay homage to the enfant terrible of the French avant-garde, Serge Gainsbourg. The performance will draw from the one-time couple’s shared and individual archives including the six albums the two produced together, to mark the twenty years since Gainsbourg’s passing.

No word yet on whether or not Birkin will treat audiences to a full rendition of the duo’s notorious Je t’aime moi non plus. Or even better, 69 année érotique. If you can’t roughly translate that, Google it.

For most this will be as close as you’ll ever get to anything with Birkin attached to it. That is, without forking out $150,000 and spending five years of your life on a wait list. Tickets for Jane Birkin Sings Serge Gainsbourg are only $49 so you coulda, woulda, shoulda get on that.
