James Van Der Beek And Funny Or Die Took On Indiana’s Anti-Gay Laws

Indiana’s contentious Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which allows businesses to deny goods and services to gay people on the basis that gays are godless heathens, has been widely condemned in the press this last week.

A pizza restaurant, Memories Pizza, became a particular focus of attention when they announced that they “would have to say no” to a gay couple who approached them to cater a wedding.
While we doubt that may couples, gay or straight, are clamoring to serve takeaway pizza at their weddings, the more significant fact is that anti-gay discrimination is now a-ok under state law.
Yesterday, comedian Nick Offerman made a passionate statement againts the bill, calling it “a carefully worded, expertly constructed document that reminds gay, lesbian and transgendered people that they are second-class citizens.”
Today, James Van Der Beek and Anna Camp have taken it on in a Funny Or Die sketch, as a pair of Indiana home shopping hosts dealing with an influx of gay callers.
Anna Camp is essentially playing her True Blood character here, but we’re pretty okay with that scenario. Soak it up:
