Aussie actor Jacob Elordi has set the record straight, re: the Zendaya dating rumours that have tickled the internet (and me) over the past couple of months. And look, long story short, there’s nothing going on there. They’re just solid mates. Boo.

In case you missed it: Elordi and Zendaya were spotted swanning around Sydney last week ahead of GQ Australia’s 2019 Men of the Year Awards. Elordi was named GQ Australia’s TV Actor of the Year, and Zendaya was graced with the title of GQ Australia’s Woman of the Year.
The co-stars were snapped on a Sydney train, immediately throwing fans into a flurry. The pair were previously photographed hanging out in public together a couple of times, hence the ~ whispers ~.
Anywho, following the fancy event, GQ published an interview with Elordi about his roles in Netflix’s widely popular teen romcom The Kissing Booth and HBO’s critically acclaimed young adult series Euphoria, co-starring Zendaya. If you’re unfamiliar with the latter, it explicitly discusses sex, drugs, depression, gender, body image, sexuality, and trauma in the social media era. It’s heavy as hell, but it’s brilliant, it really is.
Speaking to GQ Australia about working on Euphoria with his co-stars, Elordi said Zendaya is “like my sister”, firmly murdering any and all dating rumours, and – quite spectacularly – sinking my ship. AH WELL.
The cast spent about nine months filming the series, which is a very long time to be around each other at all hours. So look, fair enough.
“Zendaya is an amazing creature, you know? She’s super dope to work with. She’s an incredible artist and a very caring person to all of us,” he continued. “But we’re all really close. There is not one weak link in that show. We’ve spent so much time together and everyone is just so cool to work with.”
